Still The Same

And maybe, maybe it was right, maybe he was still the same, inside there, somewhere, but it didn’t feel like it at all..
He was different, it was difficult to see it, to feel it, but he wasn’t the same.
He had been so human once, and of course he still was, but it was is if he was far away with his mind, more than he had been before. He was a Time Lord, he always would be one, but he had been so close to human once, before this regeneration. He was cheerful now, trying to hide whatever he felt behind the facade of happiness. He was eccentric, clumsy, and sometimes acting as if he wasn’t from this world, though that was true, of course. He was an alien, and he was less human now, but that was okay.
There was the fact that he didn’t seem to let anyone near himself. He was putting a distance between his new companions. It wasn’t as if he didn’t love them, of course he did, he always did, but he didn’t show it like he had used to do. He must have realized that they would go, eventually, and no one would grow as close to him as Rose had become.
Yes, he was still the same, just a new outfit.
But the sneakers stayed.
